The Leveretts get Iran all wrong

May 31st, 2009

Just as he is being criticized by those to his right for his emphasis on engagement with Iran, President Obama came under attack from the left, in the op-ed pages of the May 23 New York Times, for just the opposite. Unlike critics from the right who largely concur with the president’s stated objectives but disagree with his tactics, Flynt Leverett and Hillary Mann Leverett argue for a full about-face on Iran policy.

-Just tell us what PAIC has accomplished! Tell us that you don’t support bombing Iran and Iranians and that you do what humanly possible to stop it.
-What you don’t see PAIC doing is not to ignore human rights violations in Iran, whereas NIAC and AIC do. What you don’t see PAIC doing is to call Hezbollah and Hamas as non-terrorist groups, whereas Hooshang Amirahmadi of AIC has.

Iran on track for nuclear weapon

May 24th, 2009

Transcript: Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen
MULLEN: Well, I believe then and I still believe that Iran’s strategic objective is to achieve nuclear weapons, and that that path continues. Their leadership is committed to it. They conducted a missile test this last week that was successful, which continues to improve their missile delivery system and capability. Daioleslam’s Speech at Libel Lawfare Conference

May 22nd, 2009

During these times, my main encouragement was the support I received from the Iranian community that opposes the Iranian regime’s advocates and lobbyists. Consequently, more and more people have come forward to raise questions and voice their concerns. I was not the first to talk about this issue and there are actually thousands who continue to talk about it.
NIAC’s final response was to bring a lawsuit against me, which also intends to silence other like-minded critics.
